Privacy Policy – MYLIFE-SIM
Last updated: 28/09/2026
This policy covers the MYLIFE-SIM website (mylifesim.co.uk), the MYLIFE-SIM game (web-based), the MYLIFE-SIM Android app, and the MYLIFE-SIM iOS app (in development) — together, "the Service."
1. Who We Are
MYLIFE-SIM ("we", "our", "us") is a life simulation game, operated by True North Games, a company based in the United Kingdom.
We are the data controller under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Contact: info@mylifesim.co.uk
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Data (Required)
- Username
- Email address
- Password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
2.2 Gameplay & Tracking Data
Logged-in users are tracked within the game environment for gameplay functionality:
- In-game actions and decisions
- Progress, stats, economy interactions
- Virtual assets and transactions
- Time spent, session data
- Game logs and system events
This tracking is essential to the Service and cannot be disabled while logged in.
2.3 Technical Data
- IP address
- Browser and device type
- Operating system
- Log files and error reports
- On Android and iOS: device identifiers and advertising identifiers (Google Advertising ID / Apple IDFA) where advertising is shown — see section 4.
2.4 Purchase Data
If you make a purchase in the Service, we (or our payment processors) collect:
- Purchase history and transaction identifiers
- On Android: data processed via Google Play Billing
- On iOS (once available): data processed via Apple In-App Purchase
- On the website: data processed via Stripe
We do not see or store full card numbers — these are handled directly by Google, Apple, or Stripe.
Where you purchase on one platform, your entitlement may be linked to your account so it is recognised across platforms (e.g. a purchase on Android also unlocking on the website).
3. How We Use Your Data
We process data to:
- Provide and operate the MYLIFE-SIM game, website, and apps
- Maintain game balance, economy, and progression
- Process purchases and manage entitlements
- Prevent cheating, abuse, or exploits
- Improve gameplay and system stability
- Comply with legal obligations
Legal basis (UK GDPR):
- Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b))
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f))
- Consent, where required (e.g. certain cookies or advertising) (Article 6(1)(a))
- Legal obligation, where applicable (Article 6(1)(c))
4. Advertising, Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Login sessions
- Security
- Basic analytics
Advertising: the Service may show ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device/advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads. You can manage ad personalisation through your device settings (Android: Settings > Google > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking, once the iOS app is available). No other third-party advertising networks are used unless explicitly stated.
On iOS, once available, we will request permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before using the IDFA for tracking purposes, as required by Apple.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell user data.
Data may be shared only with:
- Hosting providers
- Security and performance services
- Payment processors (Google Play Billing, Apple In-App Purchase, Stripe)
- Advertising services (Google AdMob)
- Legal authorities, if required by law
All processors are contractually required to handle data in line with applicable data protection law.
6. International Data Transfers
We are UK-based, and the Service is available internationally. Where data is transferred outside the UK (for example, to hosting or processing infrastructure abroad), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement, adequacy regulations, or equivalent standard contractual clauses.
If you are located outside the UK, your data may also be subject to the data protection laws of your own country (for example, the EU GDPR for EU users, or Brazil's LGPD for users in Brazil), in addition to this policy.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while the account is active
- Game logs: retained for audit, balancing, and security purposes
- Purchase records: retained as required for accounting, tax, and legal purposes
- Deleted accounts: anonymised or removed within a reasonable period, unless we are legally required to retain certain records (e.g. purchase/tax records)
8. Your Rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion (subject to game integrity, fraud prevention, and legal requirements)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent (e.g. certain ads/cookies)
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
To exercise these rights, contact info@mylifesim.co.uk.
9. Children
MYLIFE-SIM is not intended for users under 13. Accounts found to belong to underage users may be terminated. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can remove it.
10. Platform-Specific Notes
- Android: the app uses Google Play Services and Google Play Billing. Installing the app from Google Play means Google's own privacy policy also applies to that distribution channel.
- iOS (in development): once released, the app will use Apple In-App Purchase and, if applicable, Sign in with Apple. Apple's own privacy policy will also apply to that distribution channel. We will request App Tracking Transparency permission where required before any ad-related tracking.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves (for example, when the iOS app launches, or when new features are added). Continued use of the Service after changes means acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
